This is a post about feelings. You’ve been warned.

We’ve heard of flow. The zone. The sweet spot. Those moments where productivity rules, yet effort feels low. Life hacks. Divinity?

Easy is productive… I hear.

Ok. Awesome concept. How do I find it? Where does it hide?

I’ve rummaged this around in my brain and I am looking for the triggers that spur me to impulsively think:

“This is what it feels like to be alive!”

Those moments, days or weeks where I fill up with gratitude just for being a human on this planet. That is my center. It feels like home.

So, what are the ingredients? How do I stabilize this?

While it will likely take me a lifetime to have a fully formed answer, here is a basic formula that I've found works for me.

1) Productivity. Just start.

Once I simply commit to an action, before no time I’m finishing the task. Yet, transversely, the tendency is to stew and waste my mind space and time. I don’t need to decide on how I feel about the act of going to the grocery store. I should just go. Easy is productive. Once I engage in the first action, I am motivated to do so much more. And there I am chopping all of my fresh veggies and making homemade soup. Easy? Easy.

2) Create!

Making something out of nothing is a high. You, as a person, have the ability to make something that didn’t exist just seconds previously. Yes, you can make art. But you can also make people smile. You can create a reaction by building a product or you can create a vibe by genuinely asking someone how they are today. You are a presence in this world and when connected to that principal it makes us feel like we're part of something bigger. Now that is for real.

3) Collaborate.

We are pack animals. Having other people to react with and share to is a necessity. It is easy to wind up in your own brain. The perspectives of other people, even on highly personal matters, is so opening. Engage someone with a different skill set to help you do something new. Ask your mom’s advice about your new idea to help open your eyes to a whole new age demographic. Work with others to get what you need. It feels so good to help someone. How come it feels so hard to ask for help? Perhaps it’s just a mental block? Now that seems silly.

Knowing yourself is no easy task, granted, but I think this a start.

I write this for me, as a reminder. Does any of it ring true for you?
